The Tides RV Resort
The ideal thing about traveling in your home away from home is you can stop along the way to your final destination. We got a last minute reservation at The Tides RV Resort in Palmetto, FL and once we arrived we were in heaven. We had no idea this place was going to be so spectacular.
The city of Palmetto is nothing to write home about, but once you drive through the resort’s gates you really don’t want to leave. The Tides has everything you need to rest, catch up on housekeeping and play.
The front entrance guard hopped on his golf cart and led us to our site. It was in a great location. The pad was oversized with brick pavers and it was very level. Lee backed into it very easily. This is one procedure I am not looking forward to learning.
We immediately went through our set up procedures. Fortunately it had every possible hookup - electricity, water, sewer, trash, cable and wifi! In no time we were resting comfortably in our cool air conditioned trailer.
We had our good friends who live in the area over to see our new airstream, Roamin’ Holiday, and then after dinner once it got a little cooler outside, we went on a long walk and saw everything. I can’t wait for you to see the video - it will be hard to explain the newness of all the wonderful amenities.
Our site was right across from the Tidal Waves building , which had a great laundry facility, a large workout room and swimming pool. It was just steps away and we had the whole place to ourselves. Wish we had more time to enjoy it all.
We continued on and went past a huge beautiful lake and fishing pier. Bring your fishing poles if you come here as the lake is stocked with all kinds of fish to catch and release. We ended up at their large clubhouse professionally decorated in a coastal design. There was music and lots of guests dancing upstairs. On the first floor was a billiards room and a large bar area. Off the back was a huge pool and spa. We ventured outside the pool gate and there was lots of outdoor actives such as shuffleboard, pickle ball, corn hole… My favorite part of the property was the fire pit. It would be a great meet up place to roast marshmallows with a group of friends.
We didn’t bring Selah and Sebi with us this trip so we missed the Happy Tails dog park, but they are going to love it.
If you were going to stay here for a week, the resort has a calendar of fun events planned for each month. Besides music and bands that play at night, they also have water fitness classes, food trucks and other fun social events.
We had so much fun seeing everything. We can’t wait to come back the next time we are in the area to enjoy it all longer. Lee and I used to live in St. Petersburg, FL when we were first married, so next time we will check out our old stomping ground and maybe go to Tampa to our favorite place for coffee and brunch - the Oxford Exchange. I’d also like to visit Anna Maria Island.
Hope you get a chance to visit the Tides! It is so new and well done you are going to love it. As one of our first RV parks to visit - this one sets a high standard for our next ones. But we are going to do our best to find some more awesome layovers, including their sister properties, the Wave and the Surf which opens in the Fall of 2022.
Blessings,
Lee and Cara
